This is Ulverston is the project of photographer H.J. Tanner and is entirely self-funded and managed.
The Interviews
This is Ulverston is a collection of portraits and interviews featuring the residents of Ulverston UK. The format is long form journalism alongside silvertone portraiture.
We feature Ulverston locals and ask them about their lives and businesses. Anyone can put themselves or others forward and we also approach people we think would make an interesting read.
All interviews take place in level access locations and are paced at an hour maximum. Everything is currently shot and recorded on iPhone and sometimes a Nikon ZFc. Your interview will be recorded as an audio file, transcribed and published alongside a black and white portrait of yourself which we will take at the interview. Note: I used to transcribe in long hand which was an old habit but now I produce an auto transcript that I spend a few hours checking off against my audio before formatting. That’s it!
This is Ulverston remains neutral on politics, religion and any other divisive topic. Our focus is on people, their stories, their lives and their contributions or links to Ulverston. The only requirement for feature is that they either live or work in the town and are over 18 years of age.

A quick note : We don’t take part in any social media projects or collaborations except to feature our publication. This is not personal it just keeps our goals and focus simple.
